Pinterest Repinning Do’s and Don’ts

If you use Pinterest, you’ve probably wondered: “Is it okay to repin stuff from other people?

Why Repinning Is Awesome

There are two huge reasons you should repin:

Reason #1: It teaches Pinterest what your boards are about… super fast. When you repin great pins that have good words (keywords) in the title and description, Pinterest goes, “Ohhh, this board is all about mom planners (or recipes, or outfits, or whatever your thing is)!” The faster Pinterest understands your boards, the faster it shows your pins to the right people.

Reason #2: You look like a nice person who shares good stuff. Pinterest is a big community. When you repin other people’s awesome pins first, Pinterest sees that you’re helping the community—not just shouting “Look at me!” That makes Pinterest want to help YOU more.

The Big Do’s and Don’ts

DO

  • Repin beautiful, clear pins with helpful titles
  • Repin pins that match the topic of your board
  • Repin other people’s pins BEFORE you add your own

DON’T

  • Repin blurry, spammy, or clickbait pins (you know, the ones that scream “You won’t believe this!!!”)
  • Fill your boards with only your own pins (that looks selfish to Pinterest)

Quick rule of thumb: Try to make about 80% of the pins on your boards from other people and only 20% your own pins. That balance keeps Pinterest happy.

The Super Easy 10-Minute Repinning Trick

You don’t need hours. Just 10 minutes a day works magic!

  • Minutes 1–3 → Search 3 keywords in your niche (example: “mom planner printables,” “easy dinner recipes,” “cute fall outfits”)
  • Minutes 4–7 → Save 5–7 really nice pins from other people to the right boards
  • Minutes 8–10 → Add 1 or 2 of your own fresh pins

That’s it! You’re done for the day.

One of my students, Sarah, started repinning just 5 pins a day using this method. In only 30 days her monthly viewers went from 8,000 to 42,000!

Action Step:

Open Pinterest right now.

  1. Search ONE keyword in your niche.
  2. Repin 3 awesome pins from other people to one of your boards.
  3. Then add 1 of your own pins.

Set a 10-minute timer and you’ll be done before you know it!
