Spring is knocking, and everyone’s thinking refresh—home, wardrobe, and yes, your Pinterest strategy. We’re going to cover a “newer” Pinterest strategy I’ve seen popping up in places. Can “entertainment-first” content (fun videos, memes, viral clips) really work on Pinterest? Or is it a trap?

Spoiler: Pinterest isn’t TikTok or Instagram. Pinners are planners—they search for gift ideas, family activities, recipes, not just laughs. Pure entertainment might get views, but it rarely gets saves, clicks, or loyal followers.
Pinterest Strategy
From over a hundred audits and what I’ve seen testing:
Short videos are exploding and the algorithm loves them. Typically seing higher views and increased click rates. But what really works is when they add value—like “3 Quick Ways to Cheer Up Your Teen” or “Fun Toddler Games for Rainy Days.” So instead of thinking of pins solely for entertainment, you can keep it fun, and also add real help to really up your Pinterest strategy in 2026.
Here are some examples:
This video adds value, then sends you to a blog post: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/95349717107490858/
This video would be a great “entertainment” + value if you added a few things. First, add a headline like Funny Family Game”. Second, instead of linking up to their Instagram account, they could have linked it up to an affiliate link for the mat they used, or a blog post talking about how to set it up.
Typically, accounts that start heavy on the “entertainment” such as linking from TikTok and Instragram get really high impressions, but once they start to link up products, everything tanks. The algorithm spots the shift and dials back the reach.
Re-Think Entertainment

Best Pinterest Strategy: Value first (tips, inspiration), then natural links (to the blog, affiliate links, podcast, ect). When you solely provide entertainment based vides you risk being spammy, using repetitive links, and the low value will ultimately hurt your profile reach.
Long-term? Value wins every time. Entertaining hooks in value content = smart and more Pinterest growth.

Action Step:
Take a look at your last 10-20 pins in your “created tab” on Pinterest… Looking at this group of 20… which pins are getting the most impressions? Are they similar to the pins with the most clicks too? Which pins are getting the most clicks & saves? THAT’S THE GOLDEN CONTENT STRATEGY.
If you’re looking for some quick eyes on your profile and pinning strategy, then I recommend getting a Pinterest Audit. There’s multiple tiers starting with the foundational level at $25, and you’ll walk away with a TON of value.
